Delp's Stockings

Many of you might already be familiar with these excellent quality socks because they are carried by many of the merchants or traders at events. These socks are all made to the very strict specifications of Mike Delp, who has been an avid re-enactor for 20 years. There are several types of Delp's Stockings, heavy cotton, heavy wool, thin cotton, and striped stockings. I own several pair of these socks and they have always served me well and are very comfortable. I normally wear the plain heavy cotton, or the heavy cotton stripes, but I also have the heavy wool pair for colder weather. Although I don’t own any of the thin socks, if they are anything near the quality of the heavy ones, they too must be great. The heavy cotton socks are available in many different colors, they sale for about $8 a pair, while the striped cotton socks sale for around $10 to $12 a pair. The heavy wool socks are available in natural or gray, they go for $12 a pair. If you are looking for a pair of knee stockings be sure and check out the Delp's Stockings. Delp's Stockings

I will go ahead and admit it, when it comes to Delp's Stockings, I am biased. I have had the pleasure of calling Mike Delp a friend for many years now, have hunted and camped with him on many occasions. But even though I am biased, it doesn’t change the fact that Delp's Stockings are among the best in the hobby. At any event you go to, if you look around you will notice that a majority of the participants are wearing Delp's Stockings, currently Mike produces Wool Stockings as well as Cotton Stockings that are available in two weights for solid colors plus he also offers a selection of both Horizontal and Vertically striped Stockings in an assortment of period correct colors. Recently while at an event I heard a rumor that Mike was going out of business, this is simply not true, not only is he not going out of business, Mike is always studying and trying to improve and expand his line of socks. Mike’s newest addition to his sock line are the Vertically Striped Stockings. Not only are Delp's Stockings made in the USA, most of them are made on antique, hand-cranked knitting machines that have recently been converted to electric power. For Stockings that wear well and hold up, contact your favorite merchant and ask them if they carry Delp's Stockings; and if not, ask them why?
